Privacy Policy
Last updated 28 July 2026
Volty is a brand of HJ Atlas Pty Ltd (ABN 46 701 729 777) (“Volty”, “we”, “us”) provides EV charging billing for apartment buildings in Australia: a mobile app for drivers, and a web console for strata managers and owners corporations. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how we handle it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Information we collect
Account information
- Drivers: name, email address, and optionally a mobile number, billing address and profile photo.
- Organisations: the manager's name and email, the organisation's name and logo, and merchant details for the owners corporation (legal entity name, ABN, contact email, address, GST registration status and settlement bank account).
Vehicle and charging data
When you link your EV, you connect it through Enode by signing in with your vehicle manufacturer account. With your consent, we receive limited vehicle data: make, model, battery level and capacity, charging state (plugged in / charging), and the vehicle's reported location. We use location for one purpose — checking whether your car is inside a charging area at your building so a session can start and be billed correctly. We do not track your vehicle's movements outside that check.
For each charging session we record energy delivered (kWh), duration, the applicable rate, cost, and the charging area involved.
Payment information
Card details are captured and tokenised directly with our payment provider, Pinch Payments. Your card number never touches Volty's servers — we store only a token reference, the card scheme, its expiry and last four digits so you can recognise your cards in the app.
How we use your information
- To start, meter and bill charging sessions at your building.
- To process payments to the owners corporation and issue receipts and tax invoices.
- To send service emails — account setup, charging receipts, payment failures and site invitations.
- To give your building's organisation visibility of charging at their sites (session history, vehicle make/model, and your name and contact details as a member of their site).
- To provide support and keep the service secure.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who we share it with
- Pinch Payments — payment processing and settlement (your name and email accompany your payer record).
- Enode — vehicle connectivity, under their own privacy terms you accept when linking.
- Google Cloud / Firebase — our hosting and database provider. Data is stored in the Sydney (australia-southeast1) region.
- Your building's owners corporation and its strata manager — session and billing records for their sites, as the recipient of charging revenue.
- Email delivery providers — to send the service emails above.
Some providers (for example email delivery) may process data outside Australia. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Cookies
This marketing site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. The Volty console uses strictly necessary cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember interface preferences (such as your theme).
Security and retention
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited by per-user authentication rules, and payment credentials are held by Pinch, not us. We keep session and billing records while your account (or your building's organisation) remains active and as required for tax and accounting purposes, then delete or de-identify them.
Access, correction and complaints
You can update most of your details directly in the app or console. For anything else — access, correction, deletion, or a privacy complaint — email support@volty.com.au and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Changes
We'll post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above. Material changes will be notified by email or in the app.
